Residents are being encouraged to make the most of the free outdoor gym at Aylsham Recreation Ground in August.

Activities have been lined up to help people get active, improve wellbeing and build confidence using the equipment.

As part of a wider initiative from Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council, part-funded by Active Norfolk, the Help Hub team will be based at the outdoor gym on selected August dates, offering free advice and support.

Anyone interested can turn up for Help Hub drop-in sessions on August 17, 18, 20, 24 and 25 (9.30am–4pm) and August 19 (5.30pm–8.30pm).

Residents can also book a free session with a qualified Broadly Active Fitness Advisor.

Michael Dolling, Community Engagement Support Assistant at Broadland District Council, said: “These small-group sessions are ideal for anyone who would like guidance on using the equipment safely, wants to exercise with others or needs a confidence boost before getting started.

“The sessions are particularly suitable for community groups, local organisations and individuals looking for friendly support in a relaxed environment.

“Booking is required for the Broadly Active sessions.”

Aylsham is the first location in a programme that will bring activities to outdoor gyms across South Norfolk and Broadland, helping more residents discover the benefits of free outdoor exercise equipment in their local parks and open spaces.
